We are looking at moving the site to g33k log, rather than a hand coded html site. After that all clan members will be able to post news etc. Just need to sort some behind the scenes stuff out first.
On the gaming front, we are in the 2nd Ladder of ED CS:S and in the 3rd division of the first ever ED CS:S League. Yes, we got picked, were not tipped to win the div by *anyone* and are currently joint top after winning our first three matches!
Oh, all our game demos and screenies are, when possible, hosted in our demo section. Feel free to browse.
In almost record time (thx Poox!) we have a new server. Only 16 player this time as our 20 man server wasnt really busy :-) Sods law, this one will be ...

Wow, two months have flown by! In that time we have got from outside of the top 100 on the Enemy Down ladder to 36th!! Although I think we have slipped a few places last night due to other clans winning stuff, boo hiss!
The sniper ladder never happened, seems quite pointless in retrospect, however I think we will start a pistol league to hone our round 1 skillz :-)
Our 4u server will expire shortly and we will be moving across to b33f due to Poox having connections there.
Oh, yeah, welcome Poox to WK! Sedge and eQ-B may or may not have joined, I probably should go find out really, but we are now a kind of 50/50 clan with half playing quite seriously in ladder games and the other half loitering around on publics and the odd PCW.
Anyway, come catch us in #weedkillers if you want to say "hi" or anything :-)
We are starting an internal WK sniper ladder and if that proves successful we may extend it to other jobs, like 1v1 Pistol ladders etc.
Enemy Down is in a state of flux at the moment because Valve still haven't fixed the overview bug and we are 100% certain that the majority of clans use this to their benefit. Enemy Down admins are not really taking a stance as its totally untraceable, maybe the MANI admin mod might come to our rescue.
Loads more matches, been losing more than we have been winning but we are getting there. Main issues is the size of the clan and getting everyone up to match level. Voice Comms is an absolute must.
Anyway, as all our games are on Enemy Down we will simply be linking the Schedule and Results pages to our equivalents on ED. Lazy? You betcha ;-)
Starting to kick into gear now, match wise, although we have been playing some very tough clans, top 10 and all that. Got a nice word from the Design Clan Leader last night after they beat us on Office. They had just beaten the #1 clan on Office, 14-10, but didnt lose one round as T and hardly lost a man whereas we almost took 2 rounds off them. Close, but no cigar, but does show progress. Just need more practice, tactics and matches.
Got a few challenges lined up, going for one a night with around 5 a week, I think we have the personel to handle it :-) But we will focus on some mid/low table matches next to hone some tactics.
Almost up to our 1 month anniversary of the launch of the CS:S squad, seems longer and shorter somehow. Anyway, apologies for no updates for a week or two but festivities have been firmly undertaken by all members and reality is finally descending upon us again. Amidst the drunken haze I managed to get us registered at Enemy Down and we are all awaiting our Steam ID submissions to clear the "anti-ringing" delay, the first of these should be clearing tonight so we can make some challenges soon. See our Enemy Down WK Members page for more info.
On the team number side, we appear to have quite a few members now what with Kore, Moriarty and Zebedeee joining the ranks. Time will tell if we need to have two squads of players, a decision will be made after a good months worth of competitive matches.
Maybe Weedkillers and Killerweeds ;-)
A nice win last night in a very enjoyable game against a great clan, BBK. We won a match each on Dust, as to be expected, but ended up winning that on round score, and then won both matches on Italy.
Unfortunately Clan FRU didnt show up for our 6v6 tonight, have to re-schedule that one. Instead we had a nice 4v4 and 5v5 within the clan.
On the server side, all looking good, the server gets filled up often, but a Steam update today seems to have b0rked the rcon_password ... ah well, fixed soon I hope!!

Enjoy!
Not a good start, administration wise, in the 3 friendlies we have played. No fault of the players, just general teething cock ups. Firstly, we organised an 8v8 against Reb's clan "Grumpy Old Men" with the agreement to fill up their team with WKers if they couldnt get 8. Well, on match night the game was delayed over an hour, and the server we played on, the admin insisted on playing. And he wasnt in GOM. And he rocked. And it was all "blacked out" speccying when dead etc. It wasnt the friendly knock about we had wanted. We lost that, but not too badly. Next we had a 3v3 on the server of a clan we met up with on a public. No worries there, altho we lost on round scores after winning as CTs and losing as Ts.
Then the match against NATO! Well, after a week of sorting out our tactics for Dust we arrived on the server and they insisted we played Italy. So we lost. Again. How did this happen? Well, Caliberlife insisted he had told me about the change:
(16:39:37) (caliberlife) Veng, are you okay with the
Italy map?
(16:39:38) (Veng) Veng is away -( bbl )- since 04:07p
-( P:On / L:On
Clearly I had set Away and didnt actually see that line, it was probably logged in some away log on the bouncer, but the point is ..... WK did not confirm the map change. Hell, I will call it a default win to us I think ;-)
The also didnt want to play Dust afterwards, but did agree to a rematch. So ..... we will KICK THEIR ASSES SOON!
On the plus side, good games are being had by all, so keep on fragging :-)
Still no server I'm afraid. I sent a couple of eMails to the 4U admins but they just keep saying "The FAQ Says 1-14 Days" ..... yeah, loads of help, thanks guys, a slightly more personal eMail wouldnt go amiss. Still, should be here within a week now :-/
On a side note, the match on Sunday is still on plan, they have their own
server so no worries there, get into #weed_cs if you are a Weedkiller, PM a
#weedkillers op for the key. The match will be 5v5 (why the feck do CS:S clans
play 5v5???) but I will get approval to swap our team around at half-time if
we get 8+ of us showing up.
Details: Sunday 19th December 2004 - 8pm - 5v5 - de_dust
Format: Initial knife fight round to determine initial team (ie CT or T)
Match:
Two matches, playing both T and CT, first to win 12 rounds
Result: Add up scores from both matches
Weedkillers are forming a Counter Strike: Source team and will be participating in regular clan matches, public scrimming, leagues and practices. We have purchased a clan server from 4U-Servers and that should be available shortly.
Our current roster is: Fecker, Veng, FireLord, Carnage, Wildie, Cubey, Avatar, Kanga, Bones, Rigs, Yaka, KC, Kitsune, Kinetic, Zap, babs. We should have a match scheduled shortly, details soon.
Re-launch of the Weedkillers site is complete! Over the coming days you should see more and more content coming in. This is mainly to do with us forming a CS:S team and coming out of retirement ;-)
There will be some new faces to the clan, so greet them nicely please!
